Square Enix has shared a new trailer for Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, which is in development for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.

What's especially unique about this game is that it's played in both 2D and 3D. A video posted to X/Twitter by @ JakeSucky showcases firsthand how the game runs.

While there are a few new elements at play here--more varied character abilities, extra elements in boss battles, and so on--this still feels like a game I would have played and loved in my childhood.

Nintendo’s new patent hints at the possibility of revisiting classic Nintendo games in a 2D HD style. Imagine 2D art set in a 3D world—it would be incredible!
