Research does suggest that 3D mammograms are more accurate than 2D mammograms and have a lower rate of false positives (when a test falsely registers a cancer), according to a study published in 2023.

In a 2D the answer is two, and a 3D space can be tiled in shapes that have no corners at all, called soft cells. These shapes can be made in a few different ways, and some are shown here.
