The Threads teams have shipped many features in the last few months post-launch. However, if there is a third-party app ecosystem in place, developers can ship features users are looking for.

In a blog post, Threads engineer Jesse Chen said that with the new API, developers can publish posts, fetch their own content, and deploy reply management tools.

An API would be very useful for platforms like WordPress to automatically share new posts to a Threads account, for example. Luckily, this will finally become a reality in a few months.

Threads plans to release its API by the end of June after testing it with a limited set of partners, including Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Social News Desk, and Techmeme.
