These are driven by a motor shield, which is controlled by an Arduino Uno. The Uno also controls a Music Maker shield to play the various audio tracks and sound effects.

The High Power H-Bridge Motor Shield for Arduino is equipped with built-in current sensing utilizing the ACS712, and is capable of driving any DC motor up to 15Amp.

The build relies on an Arduino Uno as the brains. It’s equipped with an L293D motor driver shield to run two DC gear motors which drive the walking assemblies.

The Arduino Motor Shield project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise $41,500 in pledges to make the jump from concept to production.
