To solve the problem without sourcing a new switch, [Jean-Noel] built his own Arduino based Dahlander switch. This consists of three relays that select the wiring configuration for each speed mode.
While there are a couple of open-source brushless drivers already available, [neuromancer2701] created his own brushless motor controller on an Arduino shield.
The High Power H-Bridge Motor Shield for Arduino is equipped with built-in current sensing utilizing the ACS712, and is capable of driving any DC motor up to 15Amp.
The Arduino Nano itself is the most basic and oldest of the group, and just like its many iterations, it's designed to work primarily with breadboards, making it a great tool for prototyping.
