The Arduino Nano and Uno are equipped with very similar processors (the chip that essentially serves as the brain of the board). The Nano features an ATmega328, while the Uno sports an ATmega328P.

The electronics are straightforward, with the complete parts list consisting of an Arduino Nano 33 IoT device connected to a pair of RGB LEDs and 50 Ohm resistors.

The hardware in the dongle is pretty much what you’d expect — an Arduino Nano 33 IoT. Yes, you could just bust out a Nano and do this yourself, but [Nick] has done all the heavy lifting already.

The Nano 33 IOT costs $18, offering Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It's powered by the SAMD21G18A microcontroller, runs up to 48 MHz with 256KB of flash and 32KB of RAM.
