The Android Photo Picker is a handy way to upload your images to various apps, and it's now getting a few new features.

Despite the transformative potential of Android’s new photo picker, adoption has been gradual. Many apps still rely on custom systems that require blanket permission for all photos on a device.

According to Android Authority, Google has now started testing the search feature for Android’s Photo Picker. In fact, one of their contributors can actually use the feature on their device.

Google managed to make this media picker a part of the Google Play Services, which means that you don’t actually need to have Android 13 on your phone to use it.

Being able to search for yourself, videos, or places means that the process is far more precise. Android’s Photo Picker was initially rolled out to enforce further privacy and security.

Google introduced a new and more privacy-focused media picker last year with Android 13, which it backported to older phones all the way to Android 4.4.
