Eclipse is an open-source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) supported by IBM. Eclipse is a popular script creator for Java application development (Java SE and Java EE) and Android apps.

For this review, I did fresh installations of IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate 2022.1.1, Eclipse Installer 2022-03 and the Eclipse IDE for Enterprise Java and Web Developers, and NetBeans 13 on a MacBook Pro.

Move over, Oracle Java. Downloads of the Eclipse Foundation’s Temurin Java SE binaries have more than doubled year over year, to more than 12 million downloads per month, Eclipse said on March 14.

Eclipse IDE 2021-06 includes new features such as support for Java 16, improved Java tooling, support for Mac AArch 64 for M1 systems, and an improved embedded terminal.
