GraphQL can do a lot more than a basic REST query, but it can be hard to build queries by hand. Having a tool to explore the API and test queries can save a lot of time.

The Stargate GraphQL API now enables developers to create tables and define schemas in Apache Cassandra without the need to work directly with Cassandra Query Language (CQL).

The way I like to say it is this: GraphQL permits flexible queries within the framework set by the developer who built the API. SQL permits universal querying on any database model.
