There are three ways to play multiplayer in Minecraft: Java Edition, two of which are free. You can join a public server, create your own, or purchase a Minecraft Realm.

Realms (Java Edition) = $7.99/£6.69 per month The only Java Edition option costs the same as Realms Plus but offers a lot less.

Step 1: Download the Server.jar file from Mojang to a dedicated folder, as you’ll be required to extract files. Step 2: Right-click on the Server.jar file and select Open to extract a few files.
