If you wish to edit or make changes to the Excel file, you can disable or remove Read-only attribute by following any one of these methods.

A QuickBooks file that's set to read-only will open in QuickBooks but you won't be able to edit it. Often files appear as read-only because of the type of media they are stored on.

You can add or remove a password from your Excel spreadsheets through the File tab. You'll do it slightly differently on a Mac and PC.

You can remove leading, trailing, and extra spaces between characters and numbers in Excel using TRIM(), SUBSTITUTE() or Find and Replace.
