DPW is upgrading some of its circuits to be LED-compatible. Many of the city's 77,000 street lights and 10,000 alley lights are on series circuits that date back to the early 1900s.

Then, the metal ends of the lights are cut and shaped. Like the string, the LED light bulbs are also dipped in flux. The bulbs are then finally soldered with the wire.
