You could leave the chart as is, as a combo chart, as shown in Figure D, but let’s remove the lines so it’s strictly a floating bar chart. Figure D To finish the Excel chart, delete the lines.

Right now, the line chart doesn’t display the Emphasis series — the value $1,800,000 — as a vertical bar. It’s a round marker. The blue marker is there, but you can’t see it.

How to make a bar graph in Excel. First, open the Excel application and retrieve the spreadsheet you're pulling the data from. The bar graph needs to have a range of data before you can make it.
