Source code for the Java Development Kit (JDK) would be redone in UTF-8 (Unicode Transformation Format) to facilitate better-defined encoding, under a plan afoot in the OpenJDK Java community.
Notepad started using UTF-8 as the default character encoding – it used ANSI as the default encoding. Let’s assume that you have a text file showing some unusual characters such as “ð???”.
In the latest Windows 10 Insider build, Microsoft has released a new version of Notepad that includes changes that bring it closer to what we have come to expect from modern text file editors.
