Excel provides a handy feature called Enable Background Refresh in Power Query’s properties. This feature keeps updating imported external data continuously while you may work on other worksheets.

In a post on the Microsoft 365 Insider blog, the company announced: Power Query is a powerful and timesaving set of Excel tools that can help you get, shape, and refresh data quickly and easily.

Power BI won’t be the only way for this feature to work, though. When you import data into Excel, you can now transform it into a data type with Power Query.
