The UI is simplified with less text and more icons. Microsoft has revealed a brief-look at a modern interface for the legacy File Explorer app that will be shipping as part of Windows 11 this fall.

Although Rebound 11 can help make the Windows 11 GUI more consistent, Microsoft is still working to improve the operating system's performance, even in basic tasks like file copying.

As first spotted by Windows developer Rafael Rivera, Microsoft has now added it as a hidden Windows 11 development feature, allowing all insiders to test out File Explorer's new tabbed interface.

Start is All Back, a popular utility for fixing Windows 11, received a feature for enabling macOS-inspired tabs in File Explorer. It is available in version 3.4.9a on the latest Dev build.
