While the MIT App Inventor platform started out as a way to teach programming skills to young people, it has now evolved to become a powerful tool for creating mobile applications that anyone can use.

MIT’s project is part of the Center for Mobile Learning, which announced several months ago that it would be taking over App Inventor when Google shut down the service on December 31, 2011.
