Wasmer used Nuitka to speed up Python in WebAssembly because most of the hard work was already done to transpile Python code into underlying CPython interpreter calls.

Not necessarily for the data-science and machine-learning communities built around Python extensions like NumPy and SciPy, but as a general programming language.

The new interpreter will run Python programs as much as 5% faster, with no changes to existing code required. A beta of Python 3.14 is due in May.
