Bar advocates, private attorneys who take on the majority of Massachusetts public defense cases, stopped taking new clients in late May, and now the state is seeing major consequences.

“It’s never acceptable to leave an infant alone inside a running vehicle — especially while inside a bar drinking,” the sheriff said.

Boozie’s Bar & Grill in downtown Davenport is temporarily closing after this weekend. It’s closing for up to six months for building repairs, according to an email sent to Our Quad Cities News.

The lawsuit details several years of code violations and violent crimes taking place at the bar, including a double-shooting earlier this month.
