After struggling for almost six months to become somewhat proficient at Python, I was extremely impressed with how much I could do using the MIT App Inventor platform.

Many educators have had great success using MIT's Scratch in class to teach similar concepts (the App Inventor's core programmatic interface is based on Scratch's underlying constructs).
