Customers should prepare for 10-digit dialing and the introduction of the new 483 area code. The 334 area code covers a large portion of central and southeast Alabama.

This area code will come into service once all 970 phone run out early next year, according to a press release by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.

The announcement comes as the Georgia Public Service Commission was notified that one area code is quickly running out of combinations.

A new area code (748) is set to be introduced across western and northern Colorado, including Pitkin County, as the long-serving 970 code nears exhaustion.

The new area code will be 912 and will serve parts of southeastern Georgia, according to the Georgia Public Service Commission.

Current 912 area code users will retain their numbers; new users will eventually be assigned the 565 code. The 912 area code, established in 1954, has been split multiple times to accommodate growth.
