Jul 11, 2015 · Data extraction files(DXE files) are not stored in a drawing. They are stored externally. It is super easy to use a previous one as a template. Just start the dataextraction command in a drawing where you want to place the data extraction table. Choose a template (previous extraction template, a DXE file).

A .dxe template of the drawing from which data needs to be extracted needs to exist in the working directory else the '-DATAEXTRACTION' command doesn't work.

However, once you edit a .dxe file (not allowed), it will create a .dxex file. Team members using versions before 2024 won’t be able to open .dxex files or access the latest updates.
